The Lead Sales and Information Assistant is a critical support role for Yosemite Conservancy’s daily bookstore operations and assists the Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza Bookstore Operations Manager in planning and creating a welcoming and meaningful experience for visitors. The Lead Sales and Information Assistant is responsible for supervising employees during day-to-day tasks, overseeing all cash operations, and maintaining proper inventory controls at two retail locations in Mariposa Grove and Wawona. The Lead Sales and Information Assistant will cover all the duties of the Bookstore Operations Manager when needed.

What You’ll Do
The Lead Sales and Information Assistant reports to the Yosemite Valley Bookstore Operations Manager and is responsible for the following:
Leads:
Cash operations
- Oversees all cash handling operations.
- Ensures safe transaction procedures are being followed.
- Maintains adequate change denominations and prepares change requests.
Inventory Management
- Ensures inventory control procedures are being followed.
- Coordinates receiving inventory deliveries at Yosemite Valley retail stores.
- Coordinates regular inventory cycle counts and reports discrepancies.
- Monitors inventory levels and suggests adjustments to on-hand quantities when needed.
Supports:
Sales
- Maintains and provides first-level support for location’s hardware, accessory tools, software, and network.
- Performs front-line sales duties as staffing and visitation volume requires.
- Sets the example for methods and standards of greeting, listening, interacting, and selling products and services to visitors.
Employee Engagement
- Assists with weekly staff meetings
- Assist with training new employees.
- Provides first-level support for employees.
Partnerships and Education
- Creates and maintains positive relationships with NPS partners.
- Stays informed of current scientific research, Yosemite Conservancy funded projects and programs, and interpretive goals in Yosemite National Park and creatively incorporates them into the retail experience.
- Innovates fresh ways to share the interpretive story of Yosemite via products and publications.

- Experience in merchandising and product display.
- Experience working in a not-for-profit education-oriented retail environment.
- Background in educational programming.
- At least two years of related experience.
Working Conditions
- Primarily performs work indoors with the ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Computer-based, with regular meetings (in person, or via video or phone).
- 40 hours a week schedule that will include Saturday and Sunday shifts.
- Meetings, field observations, and general relationship-building with park-based staff, colleagues, and partners may involve weekend and evening hours and travel on uneven ground.
- Potential to lift, carry or otherwise move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

The position is full-time and based in Yosemite National Park Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza. Housing availability subject to availability. This position is subject to furlough in the winter season.
The compensation for this position ranges from $19-$20/hour, depending on experience.
